Thought-provoking stuff, indeed.

As you know, I'm a reasonably old hand at professional content provision, but reasonably new to the vagaries of the New Media (is it a bit gauche to call it that?).

Therefore I'm still recovering from the bombshell you dropped with me a week or so ago - the cost of producing professional content is now greater than what virtually any user is prepared to pay for it.

Damn. Don't suppose there was any way to break that one gently!

You're spot on. The quality of content remains the biggest, critical factor - perhaps the only thing that matters.

You make an exception, however, of OhMyNews. In fact, last time I checked OhMyNews had around 50 professional journalists, with very traditional backgrounds, editing material and keeping standards up. They have many more pro journalists than many "big/old media" websites.
